Haze

Hissing and glowing,
The paper burns.
The crumpled leaves
Contort and scorch.
As the burnt specks tumble
Silently to the floor.
Wisps of dancing smoke
Weave through the air
And glide through fingers
That slide through his hair.
The searing smell of ember
Spirals from his soothing sigh
Entwining with the space
Outside my parted lips.
My mouth drying,
My throat aching.
His tongue was the taste
Of menthol and ash.
I breathe in, tasting,
And reliving the past.
